Best Chicken Sandwich San Francisco

Thanks MacKenzie Chung Fegan/S.F. Chronicle for the recent mention of our Breadbelly Chicken Sandwich.

Excerpt is below:

Knowing I would need a base layer of protein before our blind croissant tasting, I picked up a chicken cutlet sandwich ($18.50) at Breadbelly en route to the office and scarfed it in the car. This is a boss-level sandwich, easily in my top five in the city, period. Dredged in sweet potato starch and flavored with five-spice, the thin, craggy cutlet is inspired by the fried chicken you’ll find at Taiwanese night markets. There’s also a tingly, puckery tst-tst on the tongue from a fish sauce gastrique that makes me crave another bite before the first one is finished. The cutlet is served with spicy Indonesian pickles and a healthy slathering of mayo on the bakery’s signature milk bread — crusts removed, for the toddlers in us all. Speaking of protein, if that is your particular journey, you can also add the cutlet to a salad or buy one solo for $9. It comes in a foil-lined bag for eating on-the-go. - Mackenzie Chung Feagan
